Restoring buildings of high cultural value for the city is a task that generates a great responsibility and commitment. Following this line, from Landem we have carried out the development of the executive project for the rehabilitation of the Llanterna de l’Auditori de Barcelona, the work of the architect Rafael Moneo.
The Lantern is a suspended volume with a square base, open on the upper and lower sides and rotated 45º with respect to the main axes of the building. It is composed of two skins of glass, inside and outside the metal structure that supports it; and both facades bear two murals by the artist Pablo Palazuelo.
It receives the name of lantern due to the light installation it has inside to light up and light up at night.
The need to intervene in this work arises from the deterioration and ruptures suffered by the different glass skins. The objective is to recover the original image of the facades and improve the maintenance and good aging of an architectural element of great importance within the building, both for its location, which fulfills the role of a general lobby with access to all the spaces of the building, as for its architectural, artistic and cultural value.
