Restoration of the natural path of the Muga River

The Consorci de Vies Verdes de Girona has relied on Landem for the drafting of the executive project for the restoration and consolidation of the different elements of the Muga River natural path, between Castelló d’Empúries and Empuriabrava, which is part of the Pirinexus, a circular cross-border tourist cycle route that unites the territories located on both sides of the Pyrenees in its eastern termination, between France and Spain.

This project includes, among others, the restoration of the different pavements, run-off water management and stabilization of the slopes present along the 4 km of the natural path.

Landem’s team, aware of the natural environment in which the project is located, has opted for bioengineering solutions with low environmental impact, such as the use of biodegradable meshes for the stabilization of slopes and hydrosowing, protection of stone walls and fences wood tiles from sustainable forest management.
